Load a video or audio file, click a button, and SockPlayer will allow you to view the video or listen to the audio file. That is, in a nutshell, the functionality you can expect to get from SockPlayer. The nice thing about this media player is that it provides support for lots and lots of media files. It will play any audio or video file you throw at it.

A simple setup wizard will help you install SockPlayer on your Windows-powered machine. It must be mentioned here that SockPlayer provides support for the following Windows editions: Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 and Windows 8.

The application’s interface is just what you would expect from a media player: a central panel to display videos, a toolbar at the top, playback buttons at the bottom. It must be mentioned here that the interface provides support for lots of languages. You can pick the one you want from the Preferences menu, the Interface submenu, the Language dropdown.

When you open a video file, the video will be displayed on the central panel on SockPlayer’s interface. When you open an audio file, that central panel will be removed and you’ll be left with the toolbar and the playback controls.

From a functionality point of view, you can expect to get the following from SockPlayer: play video files, audio files, DVDs, VCDs, audio CDs, and playlists; manage a list of favorites; adjust playback speed; load subtitles; change the aspect ratio; rotate, flip, mirror video files; use audio filters; and more. Since SockPlayer is freeware, you can explore all its features at your own pace.

Play all sorts of videos and audio files with the free and easy to use SockPlayer.

Pros

A simple wizard will help you install SockPlayer on your PC. You will immediately feel at home with the interface. Extensive support for languages, video files, and audio files is provided. Using SockPlayer is an effortless matter. SockPlayer is freeware.

Cons

None that I could think of.
